Important Setup Notes:

Setup and Procedure:

  1. Choose a yo-yo.
  2. Wind up the attached string around the small axle wedged between the two larger, outer discs.
  3. Put your index finger through the loop at the end of the string while holding the yo-yo in the opposite hand.
  4. When ready, keeping your hand with the looped over finger in place, let the yo-yo drop. As it drops, it will pick up rotational speed until all the string unwinds. Upon hitting this point, it will wind up again approaching your hand.
  5. If desired, repeat with other yo-yos.

Cautions, Warnings, or Safety Concerns:

Discussion:

Discuss the physics behind the demonstration, explaining some of the various steps of the demonstration when appropriate.
