DIY Electron Accelerator
This project is based on an instructible. See http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Electron-Accelerator-A-Cathode-Ray-Tube-in-a-/ for details and above image.
It involves building a cathode ray tube, the simplist kind of of particle accelerator and the same thing old TVs and computer monitors use to generate an image, with a phosphorescent screen.
It could be used as a demonstration, or as a jumping-off point for further particle and plasma physics experiments.
