  • Using a homemade apparatus, a ball is put into a circular trajectory with the centripetal force being provided by a rotating rod. A string connecting the ball to the rod is quickly cut, and the ball immediately assumes a linear trajectory tangent to the original trajectory in accordance with Newton's first law.
